Trekk Sheds Warranty Explained: What’s Covered, What’s Not, and How to Extend It

Buying a shed is a big investment, so it makes sense to ask the important question upfront: what does the warranty actually cover?

At Trekk Sheds, our warranty is designed to give you peace of mind that your shed has been built with quality materials and that if something goes wrong due to a manufacturing fault, you’re protected.

In this guide, we’ll break down exactly what the Trekk Sheds warranty covers, what can void it, and how you can extend your warranty by an extra 12 months with the right base setup.

What Is the Trekk Sheds Warranty?

The Trekk Sheds warranty is a limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship under specific conditions. Trekk Sheds offers a 1-year warranty as standard, provided the shed has been installed correctly and maintained according to warranty requirements. This means that if something fails due to a manufacturing issue (and the shed has been installed and maintained correctly), Trekk Sheds may repair or replace the affected component. The warranty works alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which applies automatically when you purchase products in Australia.

The Trekk Sheds warranty covers issues caused by faulty materials or workmanship.

This includes manufacturing-related problems that occur through normal, correct use of the shed. For example, if a product component fails because it was incorrectly produced or supplied, this may be covered under warranty. Warranty coverage applies only if the shed is installed correctly and maintained according to Trekk’s recommended care instructions.

What Is Not Covered Under the Trekk Sheds Warranty?

The Trekk Sheds warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, poor installation, or lack of maintenance. This is important because timber sheds are exposed to weather conditions and require correct sealing and care. If damage occurs due to environmental exposure without proper protection, this may not be covered. In simple terms, if the issue is caused by incorrect setup, it is unlikely to qualify as a warranty claim.

Yes! Painting and sealing your Trekk Shed is essential to maintain warranty coverage.

Trekk Sheds requires that your shed be fully painted or sealed within 6 weeks of receiving it. This is a key condition because untreated timber is vulnerable to moisture, sun exposure, and cracking over time.

Painting helps protect your shed from weather damage and ensures the structure performs as intended for years to come.

What Paint Requirements Must Be Followed for Warranty Coverage?

To comply with Trekk Sheds warranty requirements, the shed must be finished using a minimum two-coat paint system on all timber surfaces. This includes areas such as doors, walls, trims, and window frames. Proper coverage ensures the timber is sealed against moisture and UV damage. Trekk Sheds also requires that paint, stain, or varnish used has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 40% or higher to remain compliant with warranty conditions.

What Can Void the Trekk Sheds Warranty?

The Trekk Sheds warranty can be void if the shed is not installed, sealed, or maintained correctly. Common reasons a shed warranty may be void include failing to paint the shed within the required timeframe, ignoring installation instructions, or modifying the shed outside of recommended guidelines.

Damage caused by poor drainage, incorrect foundations, or exposure to water buildup may also not be covered, as these are considered preventable issues.

Does Normal Wear and Tear Count as a Warranty Issue?

No, normal wear and tear is not covered under the Trekk Sheds warranty. Over time, timber sheds naturally experience changes due to exposure to weather, sunlight, and seasonal movement. This is considered part of normal product ageing rather than a fault. Regular maintenance, repainting when needed, and keeping the shed clean and dry are the best ways to maximise your shed’s lifespan.

How Can You Extend the Trekk Sheds Warranty?

You can extend your Trekk Sheds warranty by adding a steel subframe to your shed purchase. Trekk Sheds states that purchasing a shed with a steel subframe can provide an additional 12 months of warranty coverage, giving you longer protection and peace of mind. This is one of the easiest and most practical ways to boost long-term confidence in your shed setup.

Instead of relying solely on timber bearers or an uneven base, a steel subframe helps ensure your shed remains level and supported over time. This can reduce the risk of movement, warping, or moisture issues, which are common causes of long-term shed damage. A stable base is one of the best ways to maximise both shed performance and warranty protection.

How Do You Make Sure Your Warranty Stays Valid?

To keep your Trekk Sheds warranty valid, the most important steps are:

  • Paint and seal the shed within the required timeframe
  • Use the correct paint system and follow the LRV guidelines
  • Install the shed correctly according to instructions
  • Ensure the shed is built on a stable, suitable base
  • Maintain the shed properly over time

When these steps are followed, your shed will not only last longer, it will also remain protected under warranty.

If you’re investing in a Trekk Shed, the smartest approach is to set it up for long-term success from day one.

A quality base, correct installation, and proper sealing will help your shed look better, last longer, and stay covered under warranty.

If you’re unsure which shed is best for your property, the Trekk team is always happy to help.
