An important part of the process in building a Trekk Shed and ensuring its longevity is to paint your shed with an exterior paint using a minimum 2 coat system (minimum 2 topcoats including filling any fastener penetrations with a paintable exterior sealant) on any timber surfaces including doors, walls, windows, facade and components.

Leaving exterior timber products, like sheds, unpainted can cause damage to them. Exterior products are exposed to the elements, and it is the exposure to these elements that, if left unpainted, will cause the timber to warp and crack. Once there is a crack in the timber, this is an area where water can penetrate and start to cause damage. Paint will stop this water from penetrating and therefore protect your shed and ensure its longevity.

There are many benefits to painting your Trekk Shed. Not only is it the final step in the process to constructing a Trekk Shed, it also:

  • Seals the timber properly
  • Ensures weather resistance
  • Keeps the warranty valid
  • Allows you customise your shed to suit your style

Tip: The LRV (or Light Reflectance Value) of the external paint, varnish or stain must be 40% or higher for the Limited Warranty to apply.

Once you’ve built your Trekk Shed, the final step is to paint it. An advantage of timber panels sheds over other types of sheds like metal or plastic, is that by painting them you get to customise them to suit your style and property. Hooray for no more ugly boring boxes in our backyards!

The process for painting your Trekk Shed is quite simple and can be broken down into 3 main steps.

  • Step 1 – Choose your paint colour (ensure it is a dedicated exterior paint for timber)
  • Step 2 – Seal all joints and gaps with a paintable exterior sealant
  • Step 3 – Paint ensuring you apply a minimum 2 topcoats

Painting your Trekk Sheds a colour of your choice gives you a personalised, dedicated shed space that you can customise to your needs. Style the shed to match your property, whether bold, playful, serene or modern, or make it a standout feature in your yard. Plus, since we’ve cut out the need to buy layers of undercoat, that’s money saved and can be spent on fitting out your shed. It’s your shed, your way.
